If so, this is your opportunity to make a real impact within Surrey Police. As a Rural Crime Police Constable within the Prevention & Problem-Solving Team, you will play a key role in planning and leading proactive operations targeting rural crime.
You will work closely with intelligence and wider policing teams as well as key stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to tackling criminality in Surrey’s rural communities.
You will also provide tactical advice, ensuring that rural policing remains intelligence-led and effective.
While wildlife and heritage crime form part of the role, the focus is on tackling organised rural criminality, including theft, burglary, vehicle crime, and livestock offences.
Your work will support the force’s Rural Crime 4P plan, strengthening Surrey Police’s ability to combat these policing challenges.
This role is open to serving officers who have successfully completed their probationary period and have:
• A strong background in proactive, intelligence-led policing.
• Experience in planning and leading operations targeting criminal activity.
• The ability to work independently, using initiative and specialist knowledge to advise on investigations and tactical responses.
• A proven ability to build strong relationships with other policing teams, and partner agencies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
• A valid driving licence (including police driving) and willingness to be trained on police off-road vehicles.
Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
• Planning and leading intelligence-led operations tackling rural crime.
• Working closely with intelligence teams to develop actionable insights and enforcement strategies.
• Collaborating with wider policing teams and key stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to rural crime prevention.
• Acting as a tactical advisor for officers responding to rural crime incidents.
• Building strong relationships with rural communities to improve reporting and engagement.
• Delivering training and improving force capability in tackling rural criminality.
• Representing Surrey Police at regional and national forums to share best practices and strengthen operational effectiveness.
