NWAPC - Chief Firearms Instructor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified police officer (Chief Inspector or Inspector on Temporary Promotion) to join the North West Armed Policing Collaboration based at our Runcorn office as the Chief Firearms Instructor (CFI).
Firearms training is a high risk area of business. Under the College of Policing Firearms Training license process, the role of the Chief Firearms Instructor (CFI) is a mandated function and is critical to the delivery of firearms training, so the individual holding the post must be competent in their role.
The role of the CFI is to be responsible for all firearms and command training matters for all forces within the North West Armed Policing Collaboration (NWAPC) to ensure consistency and compliance to the license requirements for the safe delivery of firearms training, incorporating the overarching principles of :
- Safe People
- Safe Practices
- Safe Places
- Safe Equipment
This is a really interesting time to be involved in this area of business and you will be able to help shape the policies, processes and format of armed policing and firearms command training across the North West region.
The applicant will be required to work in partnership with all of the collaborating forces to support the delivery of armed policing and firearms command training to help these forces effectively equip their officers to protect themselves and the public.
The applicant will predominantly work a Monday to Friday daytime pattern and will be expected to be visible across all the training delivery centres across the North West. There is always a degree of flexibility in working arrangements and agile working dependent on organisational needs.
Where the role requires a specific qualification you will also be required to bring the original certificate as proof of your achievement and a photocopy to interview. You will also be required to bring a copy of your recent PDR.
Should you require a reasonable adjustment to our recruitment process please contact HR on 01606 366800 at the earliest opportunity to ensure that measures can be put in place to enable your application for this post.
Interviews will take place as advised following the closure of applications.
