Location: Headquarters, Northallerton
Salary: Scale 2/3 (£22,101 - £24,462 pro rata / £13,439 - £14,875 based on part time hours), uplifting to Scale 4 (£24,921 - £27,351 pro rata / £15,154 - £16,632 based on part time hours) once Progression plan completed
Contract: Permanent / Part time
Shifts: 3 days (22.5hrs) weekly. Ideal working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, however this can be discussed at interview.
Firearms Licensing Administration Officer Job Description
We are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking applications for a Firearms Licensing Administration Officer to join the team.
We are looking for a hard working, professional and committed individual to become an integral part of a small team. We work in a rewarding and challenging environment, and this role will give you the opportunity to develop your skillset and knowledge within Firearms Licensing.
A Firearms Licencing Administration Officer is responsible for assisting in the provision of an effective and efficient Firearms Licensing Service throughout the North Yorkshire Police area. You will ensure that all office duties and telephone enquiries are dealt with in an accurate, speedy, and professional manner, while reflecting the high standards that are required.
As we approach a sustained period of high demand, your main responsibilities will include renewing and granting of firearm and shotgun certificates and researching Police intelligence and other systems, to help determine their suitability.
Along with being motivated and dedicated, to be successful you will:
- Have experience in office administration, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Be able to show analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidentially have good organisation skills and be able to prioritise, to meet deadlines.
- Be able to work unsupervised and on your own initiative, managing your own time, whilst also remaining part of a team.
- Have strong customer service skills.
The following are desirable entry requirements, however full training will be provided, for suitable candidates to develop a successful career within this environment:
- Previous firearms experience is advantageous.
- Experience of the National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS).
