Job Title: CATO Administrative Officer
Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
CATO is central to the Command in bringing together all the key logistical requirements of different units. CATO are responsible for the administration of NCIA for SO15, including, issuing roles and responsibilities for officers and staff. CATO hold key operational data in a large number of SO15 databases, these are used to inform decisions around tasking, performance and operations.
CATO also manage the issuing of digital licenses, groups roles and permissions. Providing data integrity by working closely with Business Assurance teams in order to ensure SO15 are fully compliant with intelligence standards. This data informs SO15 senior leaders and the wider CT Network, including partners on strategic matters in order to drive police activity. This data is also used to brief the MET Senior leadership on a weekly basis around the current CT Threat & Risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of administrative support to SO15 by gathering, maintaining and collating information, populating databases, assist in the management of the NCIA (National Common Intelligence Application) Operational Admin Process.
Specifically, these posts involve
- General office administration
- Management of the NCIA (National Common Intelligence Application) Operational Admin Process.
- Maintain Groups, Roles & Permissions database for the NCIA
- Facilitate NSN queries across the Command.
- Facilitate the running of the Daily Management Meeting.
- Maintain operations and management information databases.
- Coordinate the administration of the SO15 Wanted/Missing circulation process
- Liaison with CTPHQ, National Policing Agencies and agencies.
- SO15 SPOC for FOIA requests
- Provide support to the Command Support Unit during times of heightened activity as directed by the respective DCS Operations or Operational Support.
- Maintain and Operate the SO15 NET pages with all Command communications and resources.
- Deputise for Band D CATO Supervisor as required.

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV)] clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
