Job Title: Senior Information Assurance Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £60,893, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £57,965 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £63,230. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: The primary Met Location for this role is either Hendon, Sidcup or Bow. Travel across the Met estate, to attend meetings as required by the business, is expected.

Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT)

The mission of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) is to provide the Met with information (and specifically data), communications and technology to help frontline officers and Met staff do their jobs more efficiently, in order to deliver the New Met for London plan. In other words, DDaT is about “passionately delivering trusted technology for precise data driven policing”.

As well as keeping up to speed with developments in technology and making recommendations for new equipment and systems that will help modernise policing, DDaT also comprises the Data Office which:

  • Owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda.
  • Brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas.
  • Consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services.
  • Enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners.

Job Purpose

Working within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Information Assurance Unit (IAU) the role will support the requirements of the Information Security Officer (ISO) role as described in the College of Policing Authorised Professional Practice (Information Management – Information Security Officer).

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct Information Assurance/Accreditation assessments covering both IT infrastructure and applications operating within the OFFICIAL Tier of the Government Security Classification (GSC) Policy.
  • Maintain an appropriate assurance framework and supporting risk documentation for systems operating within the OFFICIAL Tier of the Government Security Classification (GSC) Policy.
  • Act as an escalation point for identified risks and mitigation plans.
  • As part of the tendering process for new IT systems, work with Procurement to conduct supplier information security assurance assessments.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across the Met to embed security requirements in change initiatives from the beginning of a project and provide support to the business on the completion and analysis of impact assessments and data sharing agreements.
  • Represent the ISO/IAU at Gold Groups for critical security incidents where required.

Other Responsibilities (depending on role selection)

  • Manage the Security Incident Reporting Team and provide risk mitigation advice and escalation where required.
  • Provide regular reporting and statistical trend analysis of reported security incidents for key- boards and other stakeholders.
  • Work with the Information Security Officer, Head of Cyber Security, DDAT Policy Lead and other key stakeholders to co-ordinate the Met’s information and cyber security policy requirements.
  • Provide SME input to maintain information and cyber security policies.
  • Maintain a review schedule for existing information and cyber security policies and standards and assess their suitability and accuracy on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide information and cyber security policy advice to the wider Met on identified information and cyber security risks and associated mitigation plans.

Vetting Clearance Level

For this role the Vetting Clearance is Force Clearance Level, Recruitment Vetting (RV), and National Security Vetting (NSV) Level, Counter Terrorism Check (CTC).
