Job Title: Workforce Planning and Deployment 

Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

As a Workforce Planning & Forecasting Lead, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to deliver forecasts and models for c.50,000 people in over 70 business units and operational OCUs. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you’ll deliver high quality workforce planning to the UK’s largest police service.

We’ll be looking to you for in-year resource plans that reflect immediate priorities, budgets, policy and legislation. You’ll also build resource plans for up to five years in the future and collaborate with partners to translate metrics, KPIs, levers and assumptions into forecasts. Ready to design and build forecasting models, and assess forecasts against performance too? This could be the ideal opportunity for you. 

With complete scenario modelling and a team of analytics and data professionals to lead, this is no role for a beginner. You’ll need statistical analysis, sensitivity analysis and regression analysis skills as a minimum. It’s also important that you’re inquisitive, bold and ready to look for new and effective ways to deliver your work and create value for stakeholders. And naturally, you’ll have expertise in workforce planning and deployment processes plus the courage to use new techniques and technologies to optimise outputs.

This is an exciting opportunity within the Workforce Planning and Deployment Team of the Metropolitan Police, supporting the direction for the Corporate Workforce Planning and Insight team, through delivery of forecasts & models for all c.50, 000 people into 70+ business units and operational OCUs.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsible for the delivery of in-year resource plans that reflect immediate priorities, budgets, policy & legislation, and are based on defined metrics, KPIs, levers and assumptions.

  • Builds resource plans up to 5 years, collaborating with partners to translate metrics, KPIs, levers and assumptions into forecasts
  • Design and build forecasting models and processes, assessing forecasts against performance
  • Complete scenario modelling, analysing outputs to drive leadership decisions
  • Maintain data catalogue working with data partners to ensure compliance
  • Champion effective governance and compliance for the Workforce Planning and Deployment team
  • Ensure data integrity and adherence to data quality standards
  • Provide visible leadership and collaboration across stakeholders
  • Lead and develop a team of workforce analytics and data modelling professionals
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive high standards across the team

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Statistical analysis, sensitivity analysis and regression analysis as a minimum
  • Ability to extract data using SQL, Python or other analysis tool
  • Ability to carry out statistical analysis to obtain insight
