Job Title: Product Lead – Human Resources
Salary: The starting salary is £68,295, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £65,367 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £70,012. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Kilburn with requirement to travel to Westminster
Met Business Services (MBS) is a new way for the Met to deliver Enabling Services to all of our officers and staff. MBS is a front-line focused services organisation that sets our people up to succeed, reduces admin, delivers modern user centric end to end solutions and provides a single source of truth for all HR, Finance and Commercial data, providing a critical cornerstone to fix our foundations.
MBS will help every person and supplier working with the Met by:
- Building a modern and efficient industry-standard business services directorate, building and pooling key specialist capabilities, strengthening HR, Finance and Commercial functions whilst removing functional silos;
- Designing end-to-end services, building them for the needs of the users rather than in functional process silos and seamlessly integrating them regardless of how they are delivered;
- Providing easy-to-use interfaces and ‘one-touch’ services for end-users that leverage the potential of contemporary technologies like automation and low-code workflows.

The role will rely on building good relationships, utilising your knowledge / experience, and managing internal and external SMEs to deliver real value and change for the organisation. An understanding of Oracle Cloud and its suite of tools across all areas of HR is key as well as being able to bring experience around other HR systems.
Key Responsibilities:
The Met Leadership have approved the design and implementation of a centralised service delivery model (Met Business Services – MBS), to replace functional services with business services, breaking down silos and building end-to-end services around user requirements. The initial scope of the MBS model will be MPS Commercial, Finance and HR scope of services functions with the flexibility and scalability of bringing additional new services into it.
A key enabler of the MBS led transformation is the implementation of a new “Products” Capability within Met Business Services.
The MBS Head of Products will oversee the Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain and User Experience Product teams, and drive the delivery of these solutions. We are now looking for a an experienced product person to take on the Lead Product role for HR, which incorporates core HR, Recruitment, Pay & Reward and Health & Well Being solutions.
The role holder will own their Product roadmap, which is created and maintained through extensive collaboration with the Head of Product and the other product teams.
As part of the role, you will have responsibility of a team of product analysists who will be subject matter experts for your products capable of making functional changes to the product as well as working with 3rd parties to deliver the outcomes
What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Be primary point of contact for stakeholders ensuring clear communication and alignment on product vision and progress.
- Engage with stakeholders and SMEs to understand and assess against overall priorities and available resources.
- Manage and support your team of functional SMEs to deliver agreed outcomes set against your roadmap.
- Align with peers to ensure consistent approach across the Met
- understanding and ability to make functional changes to the product as well as managed any SME’s or functional experts who will support you in your projects
- Supporting the operational teams in changes they may need to make including testing, change management etc.
- Define and prioritise product features and be able to prioritise through extensive collaboration and negotiation supported by outcomes and value.
- Analyse data (evidence) including customer feedback to understand the pain points and frustrations to drive out improved experience that gain the right outcomes.
- Using evidence to understand trends, compliance, usage etc to create opportunities for improvements that matter most.
- Understanding of the technology that supports the product.
- Work closely with development teams (internal and external) to support the product development
- Being able to document and present technology proposals/recommendations to the senior leaders that provide clear benefits and costs from which a decision can be made.
- Drive continuous improvement in technical solutions that supports New Met for London priorities.
The job will be based at Kilburn/Westminster, however travel to other MPS sites may be required.
