The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

The case conference co-ordinator will act as the point of contact for our Partner Agencies, primarily child services, once a child Protection concern has reached the threshold for an initial Child Protection Conference.
A child Protection Conference is a meeting between family members and professionals involved with the family about a child's future safety, health and development. The Post holder Represents Sussex Police at these conferences and review conferences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be point of contact for Child Protection Conference matters and be a point of contact for any OIC for any criminal investigation.
  • To research police systems to provide police information relating to a family's police history and provide a rationale as to perceived risk to the child and contribute to safety planning. Quality assure all reports upon submission, ensuring these are completed in line with GDPR and Force policy and take necessary corrective action.
  • To represent Sussex Police at Case Conferences. Present police information and provide a rationale as to perceived risk and recommend an appropriate plan in accordance with the Children's Act.
  • Ensure children are safeguarded throughout the Case Conference process by participating in safety planning and contributing to the child's plan.
  • Respond to challenge by professionals and families in conference, challenge outcomes where necessary, and deal with conflict that can arise with families during and after the conference process.
  • To keep all records and information secure and confidential at all times, including that provided by third parties / agencies.
  • Maintain Niche records and complete all associated administration tasks relating to all children that are subject of a child Protection Case Conference.
  • Liaise with external partnership agencies to ensure the safeguarding of children is maintained as appropriate.
  • Deal with any disclosures made in Case Conferences, be this of criminal or intelligence nature.
  • Be prepared to attend court if required.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
Skills & Experience
  • Good use of IT and policing systems
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Safeguarding background and experience
  • Experience in working with and dealing with multiagency
  • Experience with dealing with internal colleagues and departments
  • Good knowledge of data protection
  • Research capability - data
  • Excellent presentation skills in both meeting form and written report form

This role is Hybrid - primarily working from St Mary's House Council Offices imbedded in the MASH Multiagency Safeguarding Hub within Children Services in Eastbourne.
