Job Title: Safeguarding Supervisor - MASH

Salary: The starting salary is £38,926, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Multiple locations available across London

The position will be based at a local authority building or police station, with at least 80% office-based working as part of the hybrid working policy.

Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Weekend working may be introduced in the future.

 

Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safeguarding Supervisor to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) within the Metropolitan Police Service. The MASH plays a key role in safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, ensuring timely and effective interventions through a collaborative, multi-agency approach.

As a Safeguarding Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the completion of research, which provides critical information for cases involving vulnerable individuals.  As a decision maker, you will assess the risk, based on the incident, the research and overall circumstances and determine the necessary actions. You will also supervise a team, supporting their development, performance, and well-being, while ensuring high standards of safeguarding practices are maintained.

Key Accountabilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision:  

  • Lead and supervise a team of police constables and staff, ensuring effective service delivery in line with safeguarding frameworks.
  • Monitor team performance and provide support for professional development.

Safeguarding & Risk Assessment:

  • Ensure thorough research is conducted and detailed summaries are provided for safeguarding cases involving children and adults.
  • Use relevant decision making frameworks to assess risk and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols, information sharing policies, and legislative requirements.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with local safeguarding partners and internal teams to share information and improve public safety.
  • Ensure the effective transfer of cases to the appropriate teams or authorities when necessary.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Quality assure team members’ work, ensuring all safeguarding tasks and reports are completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding documentation processes.

Training & Development:

  • Support the ongoing training and development of team members to enhance safeguarding knowledge and practices.
