Head of Governance and Compliance - Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
Head of Governance and Compliance – Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner
An opportunity has arisen to join the extended management team in the Cambridgeshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The Head of Governance and Compliance is a key role within the small team who support the Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver against their statutory duties.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience within a governance, compliance, risk management or legislative role where they have managed and led staff. They will also be degree educated or have equivalent professional qualifications or experience. As the job title suggests the role will be responsible for ensuring the office-wide system of governance is adhered to, which includes the development of effective performance monitoring arrangements. This collectively enables the Police and Crime Commissioner to hold the Cambridgeshire Chief Constable to account for delivering an efficient and effective police service.
It makes sense that knowledge of the public sector, policing and the criminal justice system will enable the chosen candidate to hit the ground running.
The successful applicant will not only get to work with experienced colleagues in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, but also a wider organisation of committed police officers and staff. It will be the postholder’s role to support the Police and Crime Commissioner to scrutinise and drive forward change on a wide range of policing functions from new police estate to operational resources such as firearms and roads policing – ensuring no two days are the same.
The rewards are great and include:
- A starting salary from £53,667.
- The opportunity to join the local Government pension scheme.
- Agile working arrangements – you will be able to divide your time between the office base at Cambridgeshire Constabulary Headquarters in Huntingdon and your home, saving petrol and travelling time at least three days a week.
- A chance to join the Bluelight Staff Discount Scheme – with savings across a wide range of retailers.
- Peer and professional support from staff performing similar roles across the county through the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners.
There will be a three-part application process which starts with an application form showing how you meet the Entry Requirements as set out in the job description.
Those who pass the shortlisting will be offered a 30-minute interview on Teams 25/26 March 2025 where they will be able to elaborate on how their skills and experience match what is required for this role. The final stage will be a formal in person interview and presentation at Cambridgeshire Constabulary Headquarters on 3 April 2025.
If you have any questions about the role please contact Jack Hudson, Chief Executive Officer, via Sheila Francis, by email who will schedule a mutually convenient time for a conversation. Sheila.Francis@cambs.police.uk
The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday March 9th 2025.
