Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week
Salary: Solicitors Grade Scheme - £45,474 - £72,492.
West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced solicitor to join an established in-house team based at West Yorkshire Police HQ. The successful applicant will advise and represent the Chief Constable in a variety of civil matters including employment law, misfeasance, information law, public law challenges, inquests/inquiries and misconduct proceedings.
Reporting to the Director of Legal Services, you will further provide expert legal advice and direction to the Chief Officer Team, the Mayor’s Office and senior stakeholders across the organisation, and represent the Force in high profile and complex legal proceedings.

The scope of the role is flexible; however, applications are particularly invited from candidates with experience in employment law and/or civil litigation.
Key requirements of the role include:
Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with 3 years PQE or comparable experience.
Substantial experience of Employment Law and/or Civil Litigation.
Basic knowledge of the workings of and the law relating to the Police Service.
Has full UK Driving Licence and/or is able to travel around the Force area.
Has access to a vehicle and willing to use it for business purposes.
