About the Opportunity
Applications are invited for the position of Head of Vetting for Staffordshire Police.
The post holder will act as the Vetting lead for Staffordshire Police, holding the delegated authority of the Chief Constable to approve, decline or withdraw vetting clearance, with the responsibility of ensuring the Force’s compliance with national vetting standards. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivery against a statutory framework, or demonstrate the ability to do so, with a history of making robust decisions which withstand scrutiny.
Essential Experience required:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the College Vetting Code of Practice, College of Policing guidance and associated legislation.
- Thorough understanding of the force’s Professional Standards control strategy and the role and contribution of vetting in this.
- Experience of managing people in the delivery of quality work to demanding deadlines.
- Thorough understanding of policing procedures and terminology.
- Thorough understanding of the organisation’s operational priorities, risks and vulnerabilities.
- Trained and experienced in interviewing.
- Experience of conducting research, validating and corroborating evidence..
The shortlisting process will consist of a written application and case study assessment.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their findings relating to the case study and final interview.
