Head of CTSFO Development and Coordination - Band B - NCPP Armed Policing HQ - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

Job Title: Head of CTSFO Development and Coordination - Band B - NCPP Armed Policing HQ - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

Salary: The starting salary is £56,911.

The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342.

Location: Remote

Do you have experience as a firearm’s tactical advisor, operational or tactical firearms commander and of operating at a strategic level with senior leaders? Are you ready to work on a national scale, dealing with CTSFO policies and capability? If so, you could lead the development of our Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) network. Join us in this key, senior role and play your part in keeping the country safe.

As Head of CTSFO Development & Coordination, you’ll deal with a variety of national polices, doctrines, capability, and capacity development, as well as national operational activity for the CTSFO network. Leading a small specialist team, you’ll provide vital coordination and organise training through a structured programme.

In this varied role, you could be doing anything from driving CTSFO capability development projects, to developing policy and practice for the CTSFO network. With this wide-ranging remit, you’ll have the scope to make a considerable impact on the evolution of the CTSFO network, and ultimately, the safety of the public.

At this level, you’ll be liaising with many stakeholders, for example: UK police forces, the Ministry of Defence, the Home Office - Homeland Security Group, Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and commercial and industry partners. You’ll therefore need experience of connecting with senior leaders and overcoming barriers to achieve consensus.

In addition to strong communication skills, you’ll need solid technical expertise: detailed knowledge of Armed Policing Authorised Professional Practice and the national CTSFO network. You’ll have gained your knowledge working as a firearm’s tactical advisor, operational or tactical firearms commander. We’ll also be looking for experience of prioritising your work, managing resources, and delivering complex projects.

It’s important to note that you may be working to tight deadlines in order to manage risk. You’ll also be part of an on-call rota for your 24/7 unit, so flexibility and reliability are key.

Your influence will be multi-dimensional, and affect every force and policing agency, plus external bodies, and governmental departments. With a budget of circa £16million and a high degree of delegated budgetary authority, you’ll have a role with considerable responsibility.

In return for your skills and dedication, you can expect a competitive salary, a Civil Service pension, excellent career development and one of the most rewarding roles around.
