Senior Forensic Examiner

We are currently looking to appoint a Senior Forensic Examiner to our new laboratory facility in Edinburgh. Reporting to the department lead, you will have a wide and varied role that will focus on delivering a robust and efficient service, improving quality, and delivering a world-class service to ensure we provide excellent, innovative forensic services to support justice in Scotland, keeping our communities safe and protected.

 

Specifically, you shall;

 

Carry out recovery of evidence, examinations, test and processes in the laboratory as instructed, to clearly defined standards and report the factual outcome (generated by an instrument or from a limited set of outcomes) either internally or externally.


Undertake relevant examinations at scene incidents, as tasked, to locate, develop, preserve, record and gather forensic evidence for use by internal and external customers, in the support of the criminal justice system.


Advise the customer at the scene and to prepare reports/statements for external customers.

 

This role may require off-site training in one of our laboratories at another site.
