The West Yorkshire Police Technical Support Unit has an exciting opportunity for anyone with a technical background looking for a challenging and rewarding career in Policing. Based centrally in Wakefield, the Divisional Technical Officer provides support, guidance and innovative technical solutions to support our Police Officer colleagues in the detection and dismantling of the criminality across West Yorkshire which causes harm within our communities.
We are looking for technically minded, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who already have a good technical grounding to become part of this specialist team. Working with cutting edge technology, the Divisional Technical Officer is responsible for the day to day delivery of technical surveillance solutions across the West Yorkshire Police force area in line with the Code of Ethics and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA)
The successful candidate will have significant development opportunities within the role through an accredited learning and development program inclusive of both internal and external courses.
Although the role is advertised as Monday to Friday office hours, there will be occasions where the candidate will be required to work outside of these hours to facilitate the deployment of technical surveillance equipment. Additional hours worked over the contracted 37 hours and weekend working will attract additional paid overtime and/or additional shift change payments. Shortlisted applicants will be requested to attend a formal interview process which will consist of an interview and both a written and a practical technical test.
