Business Support Apprentice - Central Ticket Office

The Role & Key Responsibilities:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Camera Enforcement Unit at West Midlands Police as a Business Support Assistant Apprentices. As a key member of the team, you shall routinely communicate with a significant number of internal and external partners and stakeholders by managing the administration which is generated from Road Traffic Offences which is key for keeping our roads safe. From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. This role is constantly evolving and is perfect for someone looking to make the roads of the West Midlands safer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triaging enquiries as appropriate and making decisions as to disposal outcomes and onwards which may lead to a prosecution.
- To deal with enquiries from either the public /internal or external agencies that will provide the recipient with sufficient data and information to deal with the enquiry effectively.
- Deal with all correspondence related to Road Traffic Offences, including complaints following actions taken.
- This includes sending emails, letters, and handling telephone complaints
Skills & Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence and ability to negotiate and influence others through verbal and written communication effectively and professionally.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- They will be expected to manage their own workload on a daily basis giving regard to legislative time frames and demand as well as being a confident decision maker who is able to interpret relevant legislation and guidance when considering the disclosure of information with minimal supervision
- You will be required to have contact with members of the public and professional bodies and be expected to represent the service in a professional and helpful manner and assist in the delivery of effective and efficient administrative support.
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word to fulfil role requirements.
- Experience in writing concise reports whilst maintaining close attention to detail to inform and update others.
- Work effectively in a team to achieve shared objectives, demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
Qualifications Required:
- GCSE or equivalent English (Grade (Grade C/4 or above)) essential
- GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade (Grade C/4 or above)) essential
- As an apprentice West Midlands Police will train you and you will undertake a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship which will include:
- Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Business Administrator
- On-the-job competency training
- Training will be delivered online with occasional site visits by a vocational skills coach to assess you in the workplace.
- This is an 18-month apprenticeship programme with a 21-month contract of employment.
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for a permanent position is there is one available, but there is no guarantee
Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
