Safeguarding Referral Officer
Main Purpose of Role
To receive Child and Adult Safeguarding referrals coming to the notice of the police via internal and external sources. To triage police source referrals prior to onward referral to partner agencies or other police departments. To prioritise referrals regarding risk and urgency.
To complete research of systems as required, ensuring that information which is disclosed and shared with partners is relevant and accurate and is disclosed lawfully and legitimately.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Must be able to assess information and identify relevant material against specific criteria.
- Must be able to identify and apply relevant legislation or protocols
- Must be able to develop, prepare and present recommendations to supervisors or managers
- Must be able to research databases accurately
- Must be able to input data accurately into spreadsheets and databases
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally by telephone, in person and in writing both with persons within the organisation and outside the organisation
- Must have good organisational skills and be able to prioritise own work load
- Must be able to work on their own initiative and with minimum supervision
- Must be trustworthy and discreet, as the post holder will be required to handle confidential and sensitive information.
