Are you ready to take your accounting career to the next level? Wiltshire Police is looking for a motivated and skilled Accountancy Officer to join our dynamic finance team. This is your chance to make a real difference, not just to our organisation, but to your community too!

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Accountancy Officer, you’ll play a vital role in managing financial processes that keep our operations running smoothly. Working closely with the Statutory Capital Accountant, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Turning complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders.
  • Managing reconciliations, VAT returns, and grant reporting with precision and expertise.
  • Supporting audits and ensuring our financial processes are watertight.
  • Handling Force banking, invoicing, and income processes, making sure everything balances.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners like HMRC and CIPFA.
  • Administering and auditing Wiltshire Police Sports Club and Lottery processes.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a proactive problem-solver with a passion for numbers and an eye for detail. You’ll need:

  • Progress towards an AAT qualification or equivalent experience in an accounting role.
  • Confidence using accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with teams across the organisation and beyond.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and stay calm under pressure.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to fostering equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Knowledge of VAT legislation and financial regulations in local authorities would be the icing on the cake!
