We wish you all the very best with your application.
Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner
The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesFrom your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this role you will be part of a small team responsible for the review of all cases submitted for court using the Postal Charge Requisitions (PCR) pathway.
This is a busy Deparment with over 54% of all Sussex Police cases being submitted for PCR review, and subsequently listed into Guilty Anticipated Plea (GAP) and Not Guilty Anticipated Plea (NGAP) hearings each month.
The case types you will review range from general low level offending to the more serious and complex crime and road traffic matters so the work is very interesting and varied.
You will be responsible for ensuring these cases meet the National File Standard (NFS) for case file compliation and, where cases do not meet the required standard, you will provide written feeback to the Officer in the Case (OIC) and/or their supervisor, depending on the nature of the deficiencies, detailing the remedial work needed to be undertaken before the case can be re-submitted for a PCR.
Where cases are on the cusp of the Statutory Time Limit (STL), you will seek immediate intervention with the Officer in the Case (OIC), their supervisor or division if they are not scheduled to work before the STL expiry date, to prevent the losss of cases.
This is a unique and truely rewarding role where you can have a real impact in supporting Sussex Police to give victims of crime a voice and to help secure the justice they deserve.
