PC / DC – Technical Support Officer – Operation Excalibur

An opportunity has arisen for a role within the on-line CSE Investigation Team for a Technical Support Officer. The successful candidate will be providing expert computer based support for staff proactively investigating on-line CSE enquiries in order to effectively identify and target those offenders whilst ensuring the integrity and safety of computer systems being used to undertake this role.

The key duties will include assisting staff in the performance of security auditing and penetration testing of computer systems, whilst being responsible for the design, development and maintenance of hardware and software products. The role will also require a commitment to keep up to date with technological advances identifying opportunities to support officers conducting covert on-line investigations.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of software development, programming language such as C, C++, C#, Python or Java (further training will be provided). A knowledge of networking theory and application will be required along with knowledge of OS fundamentals (at least two from; Windows, Linux, OSX, Android, iOS). You will be expected to have excellent analytical skills and a natural passion for technology.

It will be desirable that the successful candidate has experience of applied information/penetration testing skills. Knowledge of digital and network forensics, data acquisition and reverse engineering will also be an advantage. Experience as a network administrator in a sensitive environment plus software development experience within a mobile platform and knowledge of cryptology will also be relevant to this role.

The role will be based in the Kent area, but the post holder may on occasion be required to work from different locations within the region; Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
