Specialist HGV Driver
We are welcoming applications for the role of Specialist HGV Driver with Dorset Police based at the following location(s): Sowton, Exeter
Salary: Scale E - Starts at £29,109 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £33,264 per annum
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same Scale.

PURPOSE
To drive and operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and other specialist vehicles / equipment in order to recover and transport vehicles, equipment and goods throughout the force area and National. Including the transport of Evidential property by exception as directed by the wider force.
To perform semi-skilled duties which may include:
- Carrying out vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Assisting vehicle technicians.
- Assisting Storekeepers.
- Providing engineering services.
- Maintain engineering hygiene standards.
- Assist in safety checks of pool cars.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To drive and operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and other specialist vehicles and equipment in order to recover and transport vehicles and transport equipment and goods.
- Operate specialist equipment including winch and power arm.
- Service and repair vehicles, cycles, equipment and plant commensurate to training received.
- Assist in undertaking internal audits.
- Provide duties commensurate with Force Recovery of police vehicles.

Selection Stage:
The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the essential criteria outlined within the job description. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 16 December 2024.
