Job Title: NPCC SOC Portfolio Deputy Director
Salary: The starting salary is £76,843 which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £74,002 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £85,474. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based near St James Park underground station, London and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other Police locations across the UK. Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

THE SERIOUS ORGANISED CRIME TEAM
The NPCC SOC portfolio is responsible for coordinating and leading the UK policing response to SOC on behalf of all forces across England and Wales. Led by the NPCC Lead for SOC, CC Chris Haward, the portfolio oversees the national coordination of the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) network, the delivery of priority national programmes of work in support of the SOC mission (including capability development and delivery), engagement with strategic partners and support to policy development with colleagues in the Home Office and more broadly across the law enforcement system.’
THE ROLE
To support the NPCC SOC Portfolio Director on all matters relating to the design, development, and delivery of the NPCC SOC Portfolio, on behalf of the NPCC Lead for SOC, CC Chris Haward. In particular, the postholder will be the day-to-day lead for a broad range of SOC policing related national projects and programmes as well as national capability design and development initiatives. They will also be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the NPCC SOC Lead’s overall national vision and objectives for SOC policing across England and Wales. They will also occupy the role of National ROCU Coordinator, with responsibility for the strategic coordination and leadership of this national network. The postholder will provide day-to-day management of the NPCC SOC Portfolio Office acting as the first point of escalation to senior leadership.

VETTING
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
