People Development Advisor

Cambridgeshire Constabulary are seeking to recruit an individual for the role of People Development Advisor (PDA). If successful, you will be one of two PDAs within the organisation and will work with police officers and police staff at all levels to locally co-ordinate HR initiatives, collaborate with BCH HR colleagues and to provide guidance and support with a variety of people practices including: 

  • Encouraging good practices and signposting line managers to HR processes 
  • Talent management schemes 
  • Sergeant and Inspector promotions processes 
  • Retention processes including leaver interviews and retention conversations 
  • Analysis and reporting of monthly people data 
  • Onboarding APP for new joiners to Cambs 
  • Informal performance/attendance management processes 
  • End of year performance reviews 

You will also support the People & Workforce Development Strategic Lead and the Cambs People Business Partner with work that comes from Strategic meetings and take actions from the Cambs People Delivery Plan. The PDAs are also responsible for organising and delivering the corporate Police Staff Welcome Event. 

Your specific area of focus will be the North of the county covering Peterborough (Thorpe Wood) and the Fens (March & Wisbech). Whilst the role is agile, building strong working relationships with people managers is vital and you will be required to travel for meetings and engage with local teams on a regular basis. Occasional travel to Cambs Headquarters is also required. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work with autonomy, adapting their approach accordingly to manage urgent and non-urgent requests for information. They will also take an analytical approach to people data, ensuring accurate reporting and demonstrating strong business acumen. An Associate CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience is also required.
