The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesWe are hiring to increase our Safety Camera and Speed enforcement team in Sussex and want YOU to join us.
Part of the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership’s (SSRP) aim is to reduce road casualties by enforcing speed limits and traffic signal compliance.
This rewarding opportunity for an organised, committed and self-driven individual would see you deployed in a uniform operational capacity through our lead partner Sussex Police.
You will operate our Safety Camera vans conducting speed enforcement at key sites identified through data analysis and risk assessment to have the most impact of road safety, as well as help to manage and maintain our fixed speed and red light cameras across the county’s road network. You will also attend public events and campaigns, speaking to the public and delivering presentations to help educate and inform on matters of road safety.
In addition to your core operational deployment there is the necessary preparation of evidential files and continuation to representing the case as a witness for the Police at court.
Although based at Shoreham by Sea in West Sussex, you will be required to travel around different areas of the county as part of your duties daily.
As part of the team you will provide a full range of cover to the people of Sussex through a shift system, working day, evening and weekends on rotation, which attracts a generous 10.5% supplement to your basic salary
Skills & ExperienceWe are looking for candidates with a practical can-do approach and a passion for public service. You must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm under pressure and diffuse confrontation.
You should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and able to manage a workload to meet tight deadlines and work under your own initiative.
It is essential you hold a full UK driving licence and have an entitlement to drive vans up to 3.5t (Transit Type, Cat B), are IT literate in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Road Traffic Legislation and file preparation for court would be advantageous.
Although minimum academic qualifications are requested this is a bespoke area of road safety enhancement for which full training will be given, we ask you come with a passion for public service, road safety and a willingness to learn.

Further InformationThe role will require attendance and to attain competence in equipment through courses provided internally and through manufacturers throughout your development, this may include residential courses in the UK.
