Inspectors on Promotion to Chief Inspector

The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police is looking to recruit high performing, resilient, suitably experienced, eligible Inspectors seeking promotion to Chief Inspector, or substantive Chief Inspectors on lateral transfer.
This is an opportunity for ambitious people who are passionate about delivering the highest quality policing to the communities we serve.
Applications are invited from Greater Manchester Police officers and officers seeking transfer from their current force.
This will be a competitive selection process.
About the role

The successful candidates will hold the highest level of credibility and will:
Plan, manage and monitor complex policing activity, managing competing to make informed deployment decisions and ensure best use of available resources.
Lead, motivate and engage large and diverse teams of inspectors, sergeants, constables, and police staff,
Contribute to the setting and monitoring of key objectives to support the delivery of the Plan on a Page.
Manage large team budgets, monitor, and review expenditure to ensure best use of available resources and value for money.
Analyse performance data and information against team objectives in order to report against performance management measures and inform workforce planning.
Identify, manage and mitigate operational threats and risks in line with national guidance and operational policing plans to maximise the safety and wellbeing of officers, staff, and the public.
Develop and maintain relationships with communities and multi-agency partners to drive collaboration and inform policing priorities and plans.
Lead the analysis and evaluation of existing processes and practices within area of work to identify and implement opportunities for change and innovation.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:
have the support of their Chief Superintendent (or Police Staff equivalent)
have held the rank of substantive inspector for 12 months or have been a temporary inspector for 12 months whilst completing the Work Based Assessment, which must be fully signed off by the closing date of the application process.
be in an active PDR cycle prior to submitting their application. PDR engagement will be checked prior to the application being considered for sift.

Applications will be subject to paper sift and the top performing candidates will be invited to attend an interview board and presentation on a date during February.
