Multi-Media Communications Officer (OPCC)

We are welcoming applications for the role of Multi-Media Communications Officer (OPCC) with Devon & Cornwall OPCC Police based at the following location(s): Andy Hocking House, Exeter 

Salary: Grade 7 - Starts at £36,630 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £40,893 per annum. 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

Type of employment: Permanent 

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker -  Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.
Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.
About the role:  

The principal responsibility is to assist the OPCC in turning communications strategies into deliverable multi-media campaigns, working independently and in partnership with other agencies, e.g. with politicians, police officers, journalists and the public in order to achieve these aims.

  • Analysing and interpreting communications strategies, and using other data to create actionable delivery plans within a given budget that will assist in achieving strategic aims
  • Building an engaged audience via social media platforms, producing and commissioning a wide range of multi-media products, from leaflets to broadcast-quality video.
  • Leveraging different media channels in order to reach different socio-economic groups and be able to evidence best practice in communications.
  • Commissioning and producing multi-media content (video, photography, animation, polls etc) and using these tools to engage an audience and convey key messages, keeping up to speed with new trends, techniques and technologies in this area, and working with external suppliers such as website developers, photographers and videographers within a defined budget.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview and Assessment .

Applications will be anonymised and then shortlisted by the shortlisting panel. Following the shortlisting you will be notified of the recruitment decision via email along with feedback on your application. 

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the behaviours outlined within the role profile. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 16 December 2024.

Some roles may also require an assessment and / or fitness test. Further information on this will be provided following the shortlisting process. The assessment and / or fitness test date will be 16 December 2024 and  if applicable, otherwise N/A.

Pre-requisites:
