Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator
West Midlands Police are looking for a Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator to join our busy People Services function. Day-to-day you’ll be working on a range of activities to support and promote the Force Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, from supporting the review of policies and guidance, coordinating governance boards and meetings, and organising staff network activities. The role is based at Lloyd House, Birmingham.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Guidance and Advice: To provide first line advice, support and signposting across all roles and levels on diversity and inclusion relation matters, and engage with colleagues to promote and encourage best practice to meet organisational goals.
- Policy Development: Support with the review and development of Diversity and Inclusion policies, guidance and advice, conduct research and benchmarking to determine best practice and monitor compliance.
- Co-ordination: Manage action tracking and planning of governance boards and meetings. Co-ordination of internal communications and events relating to staff networks and other initiatives.
- Engagement: Manage engagement with key internal and external stakeholders and partners, working in collaboration with colleagues and support the arrangement and management of events.
- Communication: Develop and deliver materials and inputs to the Force, including briefing documents, policy inputs and learning products. Manage delivery of Diversity and Inclusion communications working closely with the corporate communications team.
- Data Reporting: Collate Diversity and Inclusion data identifying trends, opportunities and risks, acting as first point of contact for the provision of information. Track and highlight changes to related legislation and approaches to ensure that the Diversity and Inclusion lead is fully sighted and impact is anticipated and planned in advance.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Experience of Diversity and Inclusion strategy and practical application within a complex organisation
- Good knowledge of D&I law and its application
- Experience of stakeholder and relationship management and engagement
- Knowledge or experience of equality assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of creating a range of internal communication products
- Ability to produce data and trend analysis to advise management
- Knowledge of data protection laws and experience of handling confidential data

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Hours: Monday-Friday within core hours.
