Evidential Property Store Officer
A new Police Staff opportunity has arisen within Bedfordshire Police Evidential Property Stores Team for a full-time Evidential Property Officer based at Luton Police Station. If successful, you will be working as part of a small dedicated and motivated team within the secure stores at Bedfordshire Police in maintaining its legal obligations by managing the retention and disposal of property coming into police possession, reporting directly to the Evidential Property Stores Sergeant.Applications are invited from candidates who are highly motivated team players, with the ability to work with minimal supervision using their own initiative. Demonstrating excellent communication skills, as they will be a point of contact for all operational staff, receiving, registering, and maintaining records on all items stored in the Evidential Property Store via the Evidential Property Management System.
It is essential you are competent in the use of computers and associated software, such as Microsoft 365, training will be provided on bespoke software used within the Stores environment and that you are confident and comfortable to work in an area under significant CCTV coverage.
You will also assist with the safe and correct storage and disposal of all evidential property items ensuring their safe and appropriate retention as evidence or seized property. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential, together with the skills and ability to organise and manage workloads.
Being physically fit is essential as you will be required to lift and carry items of property. The role can involve the handling and disposal of unpleasant and dirty items, whilst complying with health and safety policy.
A working knowledge of Evidential Property and associated legislation and policy would be advantageous but is not essential. Training will be provided for successful candidates.
Working at Luton Police Station. You will be required at times to drive to other locations to assist with delivery, movement, and disposal of exhibits, you may need to visit other locations across the Bedfordshire Police estate and at times requested to support Operational Undefined with additional logistics. A valid UK driving licence is therefore essential to drive a B1 classified vehicles.
This role carries significant responsibility and an individual who can demonstrate decision making, personal motivation, professionalism, integrity and excellent written and verbal communications is essential. Having a customer focused approach when dealing with officers and staff.
