Being a Special Constable is a unique opportunity to do something special both for yourself and your community. This vital role gives you invaluable experiences and training that you can use throughout your life to achieve your personal or professional goals. As a Special Constable you will be provided with full training, a uniform, and out of pocket expenses and have all the powers and authority of regular officers.
A Special Constable in Lancashire Constabulary is someone who will be valued, supported and integrated into the wider policing family. They’re someone who will learn new skills, see new things and make differences to the lives of the public they serve. A Special Constable is someone who makes new friends, sees life from new perspectives and upholds the law.
You will be given full training which will take place over 11 weekends (not all consecutive) over a four-month period, Attached is the list of training dates. You MUST be able to attend ALL these training dates with additional Roads Policing weekend once you are in Division, with some additional E-learning to support your policing knowledge.
Once trained you will be posted onto an immediate response or neighbourhood policing team and will be deployed to operational incidents.
We ask our Specials to volunteer 16 hours of their time a month, these are flexible based on your commitments. We are looking for successful candidates to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 months (due to training and cost)

Important dates:
Candidates will be invited to undertake the National Sift commencing 9th - 16th December 2024
Successful candidates will be required to undertake an in-force interview - 13th - 24th January 2025
Followed by a medical assessment, physical assessment (bleep test) and vetting checks.
We endeavour to accommodate candidates preferred locations, but this cannot always be guaranteed.
