Finance Internship (Undergraduate)
Are you looking to secure an internship with one of the most dynamic policing units?
The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Year in Industry (YII) placement to join us in our dynamic and fast-paced environment, to begin in September 2025 for a minimum of 10 months.
EMSOU focuses on intelligence gathering and finding innovative ways to disrupt and investigate serious and organised crime, homicide, and terrorism, on behalf of the five East Midlands police forces. We are also a national leader in the provision of forensic services for the region.
Our expertise and specialist capabilities are drawn upon from our five forces to tackle people, drugs and firearms trafficking, cyber crime, fraud and money laundering, prison corruption, murder and other serious assaults, along with terrorism and extremism.
You can expect to work as part of a wider Finance team providing a professional and collaborative service across EMSOU and other national projects. As part of the team, you will ensure that business objectives are met by supporting the work of the Finance Operations Manager, Finance Operations Assistants, and Assistant Business Accountant. You will gain invaluable real-world experience of working on public sector finances, helping to deliver financial plans and supporting future budget planning.

Location – Nottinghamshire, Junction 27 (off M1)
The must haves
- To be enrolled in an undergraduate degree, having successfully completed the first two years of study and with full support of your university for a placement / year in industry.
- Have an ability to problem solve, understanding issues, planning approaches and testing / recording results and inferences.
- Experience of delivering written reports and verbal briefings, outlining risks, findings, results and recommendation.

- Salary – Grade 2 - £24,222 – £26,106
- Due to MV/SC Vetting requirements, you must have a minimum of 5 years continuous residency in the UK to be eligible to apply.
