Job Title: Quality System Auditor

Salary: The starting salary is £37,289, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £34,448 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £36,864 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Lambeth HQ, but will be required to travel to other MPS locations within the London area based on operational needs.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the world of Forensic Services and contribute to the continuous improvement and quality of the service we deliver.

As a Quality Systems Auditor you will contribute to the build, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System for the Directorate of Forensic Services that satisfies national and international standards and the requirements of the Criminal Justice System. This will be achieved mainly through the completion of internal audits across the Directorate’s different business units. You will, on the basis of evidence gathered during audits, identify improvement opportunities and provide reassurance to management of the effectiveness of the system.

Key Activities

Expected to work within the Forensic Service Quality Management System:

  • Plan and conduct internal audits to test adherence to Directorate procedures, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 17020, the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice, and other applicable Standards.
  • Liaise with auditees, process owners, and departmental managers to ensure that corrective / improvement action plans are agreed, implemented, and verified in a timely manner.
  • Provide written reports on audit findings that identify areas of risk and describe the effectiveness of the management system.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on quality related matters to staff and management at all levels across the Directorate as appropriate.
  • Establish and control system documentation such as procedures and instructions and, through auditing, test their effectiveness.
  • Liaise with external auditors to demonstrate the effectiveness of the management system.
  • To work closely with the Quality Managers and technical staff and contribute to building and maintaining a quality management system.
  • Understand and accept the core principles set out in the H&S Policy in relation to your role, duties and responsibilities and implement those principles and requirements in day-to-day activities.
  • Demonstrate effective visible safety leadership, understand H&S policy and lead compliance within area of responsibility. Implement the principles and requirements of H&S policy in your day to day activities and within the teams you work/manage.  Encourage open dialogue and feedback on safety

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.
