Lancashire Constabulary’s Scientific Support Department is seeking a Forensic Investigation Submissions Officer to be based at Hutton Headquarters. The site is accessible by public transport and there is also free car parking on site. This post is temporary until 31/03/2025

The purpose of a Forensic Submissions Officer is to maximise the effectiveness of forensic submissions by commissioning and coordinating forensic work requests and evaluating submissions with respect to, the viability of the request, the investigation need / demand and its overall cost, both in terms of external expenditure and internal resources. 

Daily responsibilities include monitoring and assessing forensic submissions, evaluating, authorising, and negotiating estimates from external Forensic Service Providers, ascertaining cost effectiveness, and developing examination strategies which consider best evidence, value for money and evidential outcomes.   

Forensic Submission Officers require excellent communication skills, the ability to provide scientific advice for a wide range of disciplines and be able to maintain accurate computerised records involving financial information and performance data.  

This role requires a broad spectrum of responsibilities.  The post holder will be required to multi-task and manage their workload effectively.
