PS Nominal Management Supervisor - CTPSW

The Counter Terrorism Nominal Management Team is a team created to improve the way that the CT Network does Nominal Management.  Put simply it is protecting the public from individuals who have had involvement or engagement in terrorist activity. Working collaboratively and in partnership to adopt a balance of intervention and enforcement.  Predominantly working with individuals who have been subject to investigation or who have been referred by partners.  The aim is to dis-engage them from terrorist activity and form a collaborative partnership to manage them safely in the community.

The CT Nominal Management Supervisor (CTNMS) line manages the team of four Nominal Management Officers and one police staff Co-ordinator, reporting to the CTNM Lead Inspector.  They will be responsible for supervising cases, ensuring allocation of CT Nominal Managers, providing guidance and support to effective case management planning and promoting the work of the Team. The Team covers the SW region as part of CT Policing South West and will be based across the CTPSW estate, the main hubs likely to be based at a building that can be reached by public transport or car in under 45 minutes from central Bristol or Taunton and Exeter.

Skills required:

  • Proven experience as a Police Manager
  • Excellent adaptable communication skills, you will need to build good relationships with staff, colleagues across a range of policing departments and partner agencies

  • Assist in servicing the intelligence requirements of planned operations and terrorist/extremist investigations.
  • Offer advice and guidance in the preparation of local and regional CT/DE threat to local policing, highlighting the methods of gathering intelligence.

Working pattern – Flexible working, full time, part time and job share applications will be considered..  Please specify if you are seeking an arrangement other than full time and how you anticipate this may be managed in the role you are applying for.

You must be a British citizen to work for the department. If you hold dual nationality, one component of which is British, you may also be considered. However, if successful, you may be asked to relinquish your nonBritish nationality (and any entitlement you may have to a foreign nationality) as a condition of your confirmation of appointment with the department.  One of your parents should also be British or have substantial ties to the UK. In the latter instance; substantial ties means that your parent is a citizen of a British Overseas Territory, a Commonwealth citizen, US citizen, EEA citizen, British national or citizen overseas, and they would need to have demonstrable connections with the UK by way of family history or have been resident here for a substantial period of time.

If you're already married to, or cohabiting with, a person who isn't a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the discretion of the department. You should note however, that marriage to, or cohabitation with, a person who isn't a British citizen after appointment may, in some circumstances, result in the withdrawal of security clearance and subsequent transfer to another department, or (if this is not possible or the officer does not wish to transfer) dismissal. Each case will be considered on its merits, taking into account the ties between the person involved and the United Kingdom

Appointment to this post is subject to security clearance to Police Management and National Security vetting – Security Clearance Level (SC).  The post holder will be required to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) once in post.

The successful candidates will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of two years unless operational requirements dictate otherwise.

Applications should be submitted against the Competency and Values Framework (CVF).

Shortlisting panels will only consider one piece of evidence per competency and decide whether this shows potential to undertake the role under consideration.
