We are welcoming applications for the role of Executive Assistant (OPCC) with Devon & Cornwall OPCC Police based at the following location(s): Andy Hocking House, Exeter 

Salary: Grade 5 - Starts at £29,109 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £31,296 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is looking for a new Executive Assistant to join our dynamic team based at Middlemoor Police HQ in Exeter. 

What is the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner?

We are the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly for England’s largest policing area.  We support the Commissioner in holding the police service to account, setting the budget of circa £430m and overseeing the largest police investment in a decade.

Devon and Cornwall Police have been on an improvement journey and our office has never been more vital to ensure the police deliver on public expectations.

The Police and Crime Commissioner is an elected position, whose role is to be the voice of the people in policing, appoint the Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police and to hold the Chief Constable to account for how they discharge their functions. 

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner works with numerous partners including central government, local authorities and the charity sector. What is the role?

As an Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive for the office, you will be their right-hand person in providing them with the support that they need to carry out their functions. The CEO’s main role is to support and advise the Commissioner and assist in the discharge of all statutory duties to ensure an efficient and effective policing service. The Chief Executive has responsibility for the appointment and management of OPCC staff, compliance, strategy and resource planning and governance arrangements.

The role will be varied, challenging and always changing with never the same day twice. Based in our offices in Exeter you will get to work closely with the Police and Crime Commissioner and many senior roles across policing and our vast array of partners across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. 

Alongside general administrative support including diary and inbox management, correspondence and minute taking, you will be involved in project management, governance, communications, public engagement and more.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

Applications will be anonymised and then shortlisted by the shortlisting panel. Following the shortlisting you will be notified of the recruitment decision via email along with feedback on your application. 

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the behaviours outlined within the role profile. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 9 April 2025.

Pre-requisites:
