Senior Technical Officer

Police Scotland Technical Support Unit provides and maintains advanced and highly specialised technical services to meet the complex requirements of Operational policing.

 Applications are invited from enthusiastic and experienced engineering managers to join Police Scotland’s Technical Support Unit - System, Support & Development sectionYou will manage a team innovating, delivering, and maintaining bespoke engineering solutions, designed to support the gathering of intelligence and evidence across a broad range of technical disciplines.

 As part of the role, you will be managing a team who maintain and support all aspects of our engineering network, project management multifaceted technical projects and support the research and development of emerging technologies. 

  You will be managing teams in the Edinburgh and Glasgow areas, with travel throughout Scotland required, remote working opportunities are available.

 You will be a strong team player, self-motivated with a flexible approach to the delivery of often time critical tactical policing requirements. Working as part of a technical management team, you will support surveillance and criminal investigations, whilst upholding Police Scotland’s code of ethics and values.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of one or more technical disciplines – Electronics, Radio, Video, Audio, ICT networking and system administration.

 

As a successful Senior Technical Officer, you will be educated to a minimum of HND level in a relevant technical discipline, with extensive post qualification experience.

You will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge off project management methodology.

 You will have a current driving license as travel throughout Scotland is required.

 About the Job.

This specialist role is within our System Support & Development section who provide support throughout Scotland.

 You will require to undertake relevant training dependent on experience.

 This is a full time, permanent post which will require you to participate in a call out rota.
