About the Opportunity 

Are you a qualified ARV Officer? This a fantastic opportunity for ARV Officers both regionally and nationally looking for a fresh challenge within the world of Armed Policing. As part of the Firearms team you will provide proactive and reactive assistance in support of all operational officers and specialist departments by appropriate use of firearms skills in accordance with the National ARV role profile as described within the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum and to enhance officer and public safety. Further opportunities to develop within the development available including close protection, tactile rifle officer, national firearms instructors and operational firearms commander. 

Location

Main location will be Staffordshire Police Headquarters.

Training

Up to 5 weeks training depending on skillset and experience.

Incentives, Terms and Conditions 

An offer of up to £8,000 relocation costs under the HMRC Scheme, plus a £1,000 Bonus Payment for Authorised Firearms Officers who successfully transfer to Staffordshire Police from another Home Office Force, supplemented by a further £750 Target Variable Payment which is paid in monthly instalments to the officer, falling in line with current AFO agreement. There is an additional £250 Target Variable Payment awarded to constables who hold the OFC role. 

**Please note there will be qualifying criteria for the relocation allowance**

Shift Pattern

Please see enclosed example of the shift patterns, the training is built into the pattern which negates any need for shift changes to accommodate training.  The training days are 8 hours. Each 10-week cycles gives 5 full weekends off to maintain work life balance. 

Am I eligible?

To apply as a Transferee as part of Alliance policing you must:

  • Be a serving Police Officer in a Home Office Force.
  • Have satisfactorily completed the period of probationary service in the rank of constable.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Qualified Authorised Firearms Officers trained to a minimum standard of the ARV role profile

Recruitment Process and Timelines


Closing date for applications is: Midday 3rd January 2025.
 
Selection Process will consist of a fitness test (Bleep test to 9.4) and CVF based interview.
 
Pre-Employment checks 

Subject to satisfactory checks final offer made

Course start date working towards May 2025
