We are now hiring for a Head of Victim and Witness Hub that supports victims of crime and witnesses through the criminal justice system.

 What does the Head of Victim and Witness Hub role involve?

 You will be responsible for a team of 30 plus people. The team provides support to victims and witnesses of crime from the initial stages of investigation through to any court case and beyond, ensuring a bespoke service is provided for their needs. The department is important because it ensures the rights of victims and witnesses are complied with in line with the Victims Code of Practice, EU Directive 29 of 2012 and the Witness Charter.  Every day is different whatever your role in policing, so here’s an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities:

You will have overall responsibility for leading a team of police staff and volunteers in the identification of victim and witness needs and ensuring provision of effective support is provided to meet their individual needs.  Ensuring regular engagement with CPS and the Courts so witnesses are updated and are supported to provide evidence throughout the criminal justice process.

Ensuring the Victim and Witness Hub complies with the Victims Code of Practice, EU Directive 29 of 2012 and the Witness Charter. Identifying opportunities to improve the service provided and maintaining high standards of compliance.

Enhance the use of the Restorative Justice Program through partnership development and use of volunteers.

Management of internal and external stakeholder relationships at a local and national level. To secure the support needed to ensure victim and witness needs are properly met and facilitate attendance of victims and witnesses at court.

Producing and delivering status reports on service delivery, budgets and risks within the department attending meetings with Senior Management Team and partner agencies.
