You will be well supported to not only develop new officers but also yourself which is refreshing to say the least!" - PC Whiteside Applications are invited for a Trainer post within Police and Crime Training to deliver the new Recruit Training Programmes.

The primary role of the Trainer will be to train newly-appointed Police Officers, Special Constables, Investigating Officer and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’S) to be effective and efficient members of the Neighborhood Policing Team, and Specialist Neighborhood Teams thereby enhancing public confidence and reassurance.

Applicants should have a sound knowledge and understanding of frontline operational policing and be able to evidence this if required.

Additionally, the Applicant will ideally possess experience of coaching and mentoring people or have experience of training people.

If you do not currently have a qualification in this area, it is not an concern as you will be supported by the PACT team throughout your development.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

To research, prepare, develop and maintain a programme of initial and refresher training for members of the Special Constabulary, Student Officers and any other employees. undefined.

Supervise and develop students in a face to face classroom, alongside virtual delivery and in the operational environment. undefined. To ensure a safe working environment for students and staff and that training activities have been risk assessed and are regularly reviewed. undefined.

To support and manage learning and assessment activities to ensure progress of learners through each programme and liaise with University and other key stake holders to support learners in achieving their academic goals. undefined.

To hold tutorials with students to discuss their individual progress and where necessary, to guide them so as to enhance their rate of development to promote a learning organisation. undefined.

To complete associated administrative/clerical duties. undefined.

To prepare and deliver interview training. undefined. To design, deliver and update development courses for Sergeants/Inspectors and Police staff supervisors/Managers as required. undefined.

Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures. undefined.

Assist other members of the Learning and Development team as required.

Skills & Experience

A recognised training qualification in Learning and Development as directed by the Head of Learning and professional Development, or equivalent, or proven and well-evidenced recent experience of designing and delivering a diverse range of learning activities with evaluated outcomes.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to facilitate the development of others and to influence and empower students so that they are able to make any required adjustments to their behaviour.

Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to facilitate workshops for individuals & teams.

The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.

Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate records and reports.

Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision, being flexible with other partners who are linked to the learners progress. Eg Universities, External Assessors.

Is fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills.
