Counter Terrorism Security Adviser - Protect (CTPSE)

The role of Counter Terrorism Security Adviser (CTSAs) is to deliver counter terrorism protective security advice and awareness training to Crowded Places, Hazardous Sites, Critical National Infrastructure and deliver personal security advice to individuals.

In this role, you will conduct counter terrorism security surveys to national standards of relevant sites and sectors and provide specialist advice in recommending and influencing the implementation of measures to reduce their vulnerability. You will ensure that site owners/operators comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001 regarding the security of designated pathogens and toxins or comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.  

The ideal candidate would possess the following characteristics, but if you feel you have transferable skills that would allow you to excel in the role you are encouraged to apply; 

  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the threat from, and current affairs in, terrorism, current terrorist methodology and the police response to those threats.
  • Proven and well evidenced experience of problem solving coupled with sound judgement/ decision making and the ability to assimilate and assess large volumes of information to assist in that process often within tight time constraints.
  • An effective team player also able to work well with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and to deal with several complex issues simultaneously; demonstrating their proficiency in time management and the ability to prioritise and manage their work efficiently.

You will either possess or be required to complete the current National CTSA Accreditation process attaining a Certificate of Occupational Competence within two years of the initial course by successfully completing mandatory courses and written security surveys to a national standard. 

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC.  In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
