ERSOU ROCU Internet Intelligence & Investigation (III) Coordinator - DC/PC

If you are a Police Constable or Detective Constable with a passion for exploring and promoting how open source and social media can enrich intelligence and support investigations, please read on.

The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) targets Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) across the Eastern Region, delivering specialist covert services to Forces when required. An exciting opportunity has come up to join the ROCU (Regional Organised Crime Unit) Threat Intelligence Directorate as our ROCU Internet Intelligence Investigation (III) Coordinator, where you will:

Become a lead practitioner in III and be prepared to receive training to Level 3 in Covert Open Source Research and other accreditations.

Identify and develop new methodologies to utilise III in ROCU operations, using your creativity to help problem solve and support our work against SOC.

Provide advanced III support to ROCU investigations, producing work to an evidential standard for court and enabling others to do the same

Promote the use of III across the ROCU, ensuring accreditations are maintained and our staff and officers are making best use of III tactics, whilst remaining compliant with legislation and gathering information safely and lawfully.

Be responsible for creating and maintaining ERSOU policies in relation to the use of III tactics and ensure that the use of III is in accordance with national regulations.

Represent ERSOU at strategic national and regional conferences and working group meetings, developing and maintaining relationships within the III community.

This presents a great opportunity to broaden existing skills, work in covert policing and to operate at the forefront of advancements in intelligence and investigations into a variety of organised crime types.

You will work alongside the Regional Organised Crime Threat Assessment Unit and the ROCU Head of Analysis to develop and promote the ROCU’s III capability as comprehensively as possible. You will be at the forefront of new technologies and be expected to participate in trials, software pilots and projects to directly influence future technologies across Law Enforcement and further your career development.

Ideally you will already have a proven track record of working with partners, supporting change, and delivering operational outcomes. You will use your existing skills in intelligence, III and open source to enhance the intelligence picture, make recommendations to operational teams and assist in the conviction of offenders. This is a new post, and a great opportunity to make a real difference to ERSOU and our efforts to stamp out organised crime.
