What is a Communications Operator?

Communications Operators are uniformed Police staff based in our Joint Communications Centre in St. Asaph. Covering the whole of North Wales, they are predominantly the first point of contact for members of the public who need the Police. Being a Communications Operator is more than just answering calls though, it’s about obtaining and providing accurate information to ensure the right decisions are made to help and keep people safe. As well as emergency 999 calls, you will also be responsible for dealing with non-emergency (101) calls, and digital communications such as live web chats and email enquiries.
