Job Title: Uniform Fitter and Tailor
Salary: The starting salary is £32,451, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £29,523 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £31,582 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Belvedere Storage Facility - however travel to different MPS sites will be required providing a Mobile Measuring Service
In Operational Support Services we provide a range of services to the Met, including providing Fleet, Vehicle Recovery, Catering, Travel, Cultural Services, Uniform, ID Passes, Exhibit Management, Records Management and Local support to officers. Whilst these services are quite different in what they deliver, the desired outcomes of delighting our customers, improving performance, delivering innovative services that are value for money and supporting and developing our people are the same.

Operational Support Services delivers several support services locally, with a central management structure and geographical areas across London. We deliver numerous local services including general administration, support to Senior Leadership Teams, management of criminal exhibits, fleet administration and management and typing for criminal cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending different locations across the MPS to take customer measurements of all genders
- Inputting customer measurements into an IT database
- Placing orders for uniform items
- To assist with stock replenishments and stock takes
- Completing alterations, repairs, tailoring and machining
- Fitting specialist items of uniform and equipment with customers
- This role offers the advantage of flexible working conditions – must to be willing to work extended hours when operational need and be part of on call rota where applicable
Additional Information
Successful candidates will be expected to remain in their initial role for 2 years before applying for any other internal roles.

Following application review, successful candidates will be invited to interview. Interview dates will commence 2-3 weeks after the hiring managers review. Your interview will consist of a technical and practical test. You will be given a 45 minute technical task and 45 minutes for your interview.
