If you want to join Greater Manchester Police as an officer and are in the final year of your Professional Policing Degree, then this is the route for you.
From day one youll be employed as a police officer spending most of your time on the frontline working alongside your team, turning your learning into practical experience.
1) Recruitment to GMP is subject to successful completion of the National Assessment Centre process alongside specific GMP requirements
2) To meet the academic requirements of this programme, you must be able to provide the following:
Level 6 Qualification in Professional Policing or proof you are in your final year.
Driving Licence
A Driving Licence is not required upon application, but you will be required to hold a full a driving licence within 12 months of joining GMP as a student officer.

The information session will be run by Greater Manchester Polices Positive Action Team who support candidates that belong to an under-represented group. The information sessions are an opportunity for you to get answers to any questions you may have from officers and staff, whilst you are still considering a career with the police.
Candidates aged 17 and above may apply to become a police officer and if successful may take up appointment once they reach the age of 18.
The starting salary is £28,551 (pay point 1) rising to £29,751 per annum (pay point 2) after 12 months service. You will receive further increments in accordance with the Constables Pay Structure for new Entrants in England and Wales.
Student officers will be recruited to regular intakes during 2024 and you will be notified of the dates after the Final Interview stage.
Once you have successfully passed the on-line Assessment Centre and Final Interview stage you are required to provide fingerprints and DNA samples. These will be used to speculatively search against local and national databases prior to appointment. This is to ensure that you have not previously come to adverse police attention and are not linked to any outstanding crime scenes.
JOB RELATED FITNESS TEST (JRFT)
We also want to make you aware at this early stage of the requirements for the fitness test. This is a test of endurance whereby you will you will be asked to run along a 15 metre track in time with a series of bleeps, which become increasingly faster to level 5.4.
You are advised to commence training after taking advice from your own GP. If you havent already done so, it is recommended that you build up to running at least 3 miles per week. This needs to be done immediately as you may be invited at short notice for your JRFT appointment.
