About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a bright, enthusiastic, person with good interpersonal and relational skills to join the Wiltshire Police, Criminal Justice Digital Evidence department within a small and busy team. The role is based at Melksham with a requirement at times to work at Swindon - a work vehicle can be used when available. The post is for 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) on a permanent contract. A probation period will apply on appointment

What you will be doing

In addition to the job description, this role would suit an individual who is comfortable dealing with digital media.

  • The team undertakes the preparation and transfer of all evidential digital data to the court services to support criminal investigations, ensuring that all timescales are complied with and that both local and national standards/targets are consistently met, in accordance with legal requirements, force policy and making critical decisions with reference to material and retention.
  • This role also includes the management of all interview recordings and associated material within the specified division, undertaking the subsequent review and management of material in accordance with MOPI (Management of Police Information), CPIA (Criminal Prosecutions Investigations Act) and GDPR guidelines. Making critical decisions with reference to this material and retention periods.
  • You will be responsible for the administration of databases and associated material therefore administrative experience, good IT, organisational skills and attention to detail are essential. As well as an understanding of Confidentiality and Data protection (GDPR) / Freedom of information. It is also essential you can work independently in order to problem solve but can also work well within a team. Training will be provided for this role.

About you and your experience

  • The successful applicant will need to have the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy, problem-solve using your own initiative, communicate well with a variety of people for example, CPS (Crown Prosecution Service), police officers and partner agencies, and be competent in the use of computers, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The Police Service has recently been the subject of significant changes brought about by local and national requirements. This is likely to continue, and you will be expected to be able to adapt and change as these arise within a flexible environment.
