About the Role:
Wiltshire Police are looking for an eager and experienced criminal intelligence researcher to be part of a team dedicated to a serious and complex crime investigation on a 12-month fixed term contract working from Calne Police Station.
The role will provide a quality service in the gathering, collection and evaluation of information and intelligence, in support of the operational objectives set by the Senior Investigating Officer.
You will be proficient at searching and retrieving material and information in support of the investigation, compiling factual reports, and presenting such material to the SIO and wider investigation team.
Further responsibilities include the production of intelligence products; telecom applications; reviewing of forensic downloads; comprehensive research utilising a range of internal and external databases.
Successful applicants may be required to engage with key stakeholders so must demonstrate proficiency in collaborative working. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent time management, meticulous attention to detail in relation to investigations, and in the production of documents and reports.
In this role, your main responsibilities will be:
- Collating, analysing and developing intelligence to support the SIO objectives.
- Gathering and evaluating information to determine its intelligence potential and identify any threats, risks or opportunities.
- Gather and use intelligence to support operational priorities within the investigation.
- Compiling detailed written reports and statements of evidence.
- Undertaking actions as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer or Case Manager.
- Updating manual and computer records where required for the purposes of the investigation.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
- Previous research experience.
- Ability to extract information from different software packages.
- Experience of handing confidential information.
- Computer literate with experience of updating both manual and computer records.
- Experience of liaising with a range of departments, agencies, and organisations.
- A full and current UK driving licence.
- Experience of working within a Major Crime environment is desirable.
- Experience of working on the HOLMES operating system is also beneficial.
