Wiltshire Police – Telephony Engineer

  • Full time permanent position
  • 37 hour working week –
  • Based at Police HQ, Devizes Hybrid work environment (combination of office and remote environment, depending on operational needs
  • Salary £42850pa rising to £45,000 after qualifying period, this includes a 20% salary uplift

 

 

Are you a proactive and dynamic Telephony Engineer with the ability to support a large organisation?  Would you like to work in an environment where every day is different, and your skills and experience would be welcomed and valued?  We are currently seeking a Telephony Specialist to join our team, developing your skills and experience to support our Police Staff and Officers throughout the county.  Working predominantly with our contact centre, you will be maintaining the system and providing support to this critical area of the force.  Ideally you will have some network experience and knowledge of Avaya, however this is not essential for the role.   You will use your knowledge of telephony technology to support to the team, becoming an expert in your field. 

Main duties will include

  • Maintain telephony support process and check that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures
  • Use telephony management software and tools to investigate and diagnose telephony problems
  • Maintain current knowledge of malware attacks and other cyber security threats.
  • Provide technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures

 

The successful applicant will have

  • Knowledge of contact centres or communication hubs
  • A current relevant professional qualification (Avaya/Mitel/Microsoft certification) or equivalent
  • The ability to analyse technical problems and articulate potential solutions in a structured, logical and non-technical manner
