Working closely with the Serious Violence Director the Avon and Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership is looking to recruit a Senior Partnerships and Engagement Manager to lead the response to the Serious Violence Duty and focus on bringing partners together to work effectively together. The role is hosted by the Office of the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner, based in Portishead, near Bristol, with the need for travel across Avon and Somerset and the opportunity for hybrid working.  

Reporting to the Serious Violence Director, this is a vital role, responsible for ensuring the development of key strategies and plans to deliver against Home Office requirements. Working with the Director you will drive system wide change utilising the public health model to tackling serious violence in order to achieve long term impact. You will work with both executive and operational stakeholders and build strong collaborative relationships in order to drive change.  

The core responsibilities of this interesting and varied role are

  • To engage and negotiate with a range of key stakeholders to support successful delivery of the operating model as set out in the recent independent VRP review. 
  • To act as the lead convenor for Serious Violence Duty partners, ensuring that key Home Office mandates and requirements of the partnership are met 
  • Lead on working to develop the pan-Avon and Somerset strategy with VRP leads in line with the Serious Violence Duty requirements 
  • Drive approaches to engage with communities meaningfully and inclusively to support the development and implementation of the strategy 
  • Oversee the delivery of the communication strategy and coordinated plans across the partnership to drive awareness 
  • Develop close working relationships with the local VRP leads and coordinators to ensure strategic and operational alignment across the partnership

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is run by a dedicated team who support the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).  The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to be the voice of local people in policing and to hold the Chief Constable to account. The aim of all PCCs is to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient police service within their force area.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent 

Salary: £45,546 – £53,529 per year 

Schedule: Flexible working will be considered 

Work Location: Portishead, with travel required across Avon and Somerset and the possibility of hybrid working
