Force Incident Sergeant (FIS)
The Force Control Centre is recruiting to the role of Force Incident Sergeant (FIS).
The FIS is a key role that is broad and diverse. You will be right at the start of incidents where confident and prompt decision making makes a real difference. The FIS holds a key role in coordination, supervision and monitoring of the deployment of resources. It is an exciting and engaging role managing competing demands and priorities to make informed deployment decisions and ensure best use of available resources to keep the public, the police and our partners safe, whilst bringing offenders to justice.
All Force Incident Sergeants receive training and development to ensure you have the skills, knowledge and tools to be successful. As a FIS you play a critical role in the FCC, supporting the FIM, and as such are supported in that role. As a trained and accredited Pursuit Manager, the FIS plays an essential role in the management of pursuits across the force and in the management of the roads network across the county.
As a FIS you have a key role in the FCC leading a team of staff in the FCC to ensure that call handling performance, and resource deployment, is focussed on safeguarding vulnerable persons and quality service delivery, to meet the force legal obligations, priorities and objectives.
All may sound challenging but as a FIS you will become highly trained and will be well supported in all that you do, making a real difference every single day.
The Force Incident sergeant role works on a well-established shift pattern over 5 blocks and you will work as a team of three FIS per block, which is available to view.
This opportunity is subject to a 1 year minimum tenure.
If you would like to know further information about this role or have any questions, then please contact Chief Inspector Sarah O’Driscoll.
Please note that this opportunity is only available for those on temporary promotion and not substantive sergeants.
If you would like to apply for this role, please complete a 500-word expression of interest evidencing the skills, knowledge and experience you will bring to the role.
Please complete and attach your line manager endorsement form to the application. This must be signed by your line manager (Inspector) and your head of department (CH/INSP or equivalent).
