A great opportunity has arisen to join the ICT Projects Team as a Project Support Officer within the collaborated Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire (BCH) ICT Department. There are many benefits to working within the BCH ICT Department, including a competitive salary, agile working arrangements, flexible working, a public sector local government pension scheme and access to onsite gymnasiums at HQ sites.

This is a full-time, permanent position supporting the delivery of a range of projects, from provision of ICT services at new police sites, implementation of new innovative technologies to support front-line policing, such as Digital Forensics, infrastructure projects, and software deployment, as well as regional and national software solutions.

As a Project Support Officer, you will be a fundamental part of the ICT Projects Team and key to the ICT Department delivering its Strategy. You will manage and deliver small projects independently, and support Project Managers in the efficient delivery of large, complex projects.

The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent, with evidence of an aptitude and motivation for further self-development
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies
  • Self-motivated and flexible, with good time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise your own workload and manage multiple work streams
  • Ability to communicate and build productive working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to work as part of a team, or to work on your own initiative
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office 365 tools

There is flexibility within this role for homeworking, and you may choose your base working location from the three Headquarters sites within BCH: Kempston, Huntingdon or Welwyn Garden City. Flexible working arrangements are available, and we will consider applications for compressed or reduced hours. In ICT we recognise the value of an inclusive and diverse workforce.

The role will require attendance at meetings across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and nationally as required. Therefore, the ability to travel is essential.
