Cambs Superintendent Promotion Process

Promotion to Superintendent

Why Join Us?

At Cambridgeshire Constabulary, we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment where everyone is valued for who they are and what they bring to policing. We believe that diverse perspectives are essential to solving the complex challenges we face. That’s why we are committed to ensuring all voices are respected, heard, and empowered to shape the future of our service.

We are a progressive and forward-thinking organisation where innovation, enterprise, and bold thinking are encouraged. Our people are supported to make a difference - not just within our force, but across the wider policing landscape.

We continually invest in our people, providing the support and development they need to flourish and thrive. When our teams feel valued and connected, we know we can deliver the very best for our communities.

Our culture is built on trust, confidence, and shared values. Through our behaviours and leadership, we live out our core values of Fairness, Integrity, Diligence, and Impartiality, delivering a first-class service to the people of Cambridgeshire.

The Role in Context

Policing is complex, yet our fundamental mission remains unchanged: to uphold the King’s peace and to prevent and detect crime, grounded in the philosophy of policing by consent, a model admired around the world.

What we are faced with today is challenging and complex, and at a time when the demands and pressures placed upon the service are growing, and with the ever-increasing divergence of the policing mission, it is vital we are clear on our operational and organisational priorities.

Importantly, ‘how’ we do things, our internal culture and values, both as individuals and as an organisation, are vital to secure the public’s trust and confidence.

Fundamentally, we want you to ensure that your leadership of the teams leads to the best possible service in responding to calls for our service, owning the problems that we need to solve for our public, and ensuring the service you deliver makes communities feel safer.

Be Part of Something Bigger

We want Cambridgeshire Constabulary to be a place where everyone delivers a professional, inclusive policing service, working alongside our partners and communities to reduce crime, prevent harm and help people feel safe.

When someone calls on us in their time of greatest need, we must respond with professionalism, compassion, and integrity.

This is more than a promotion, it’s a chance to lead with impact, influence the future of policing and help shape a safer, more inclusive Cambridgeshire to deliver first class public service.
